I didn't think this movie was very good at all. What's the big deal?

If you're looking for car chases, allow me to recommend The Driver, written and directed by Walter Hill (The Warriors).

Ain't nobody that doesn't like The Warriors. Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

In it's social, artistic and historic context, the movie was a big deal. A dynamic. Today its stories are boiled down in games to 3 secs, what the people think they want .

French Connection was a big deal back in its day. Way more realistic than most fare then. Gene Hackman is a good actor - his portrial of being strung-out in French Connection II is right on the mark. Almost creeped me out.
